The drafts for Magic Signatures and Salmon have been updated, all blocker issues resolved, and text cleaned up and made ready for implementator use. We also intend to submit the link relations to the Link Relations Registry now that the documentation is complete. These changes are incompatible with the prior -00 version of Magic Signatures, so the new text is in draft-panzer-magicsig-01.html (http://salmon-protocol.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/draft-panzer-magicsig-01.html). Most libraries are already using the -01 spec and we intend to align all existing code with -01 immediately.
StatusNet just announced the release of StatusNet 0.9, which includes support for Salmon and related open specifications:
Salmon is used for sending cross-network @replies (@mentions), per the specification. This is a great start because it's simpler than the full reply-to-content flow; it's just sending people notifications when you mention them in your status updates, in a verifiable way. We're working to get a separate endpoint put up on AppEngine soon in order to try out interop.
A Internet-Draft of the Salmon specification is now available at http://salmon-protocol.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/draft-panzer-salmon-00.html. This specification replaces the prior draft protocol summary on this site; we're converting the protocol summary to be a very high level overview of the protocol while leaving details and edge cases to the specification itself.
